Everyone is talking about “green.” We all understand that green is a critical element of program quality, but what exactly is it, and how do we know when we get there? The Go Green Rating Scale for Early Childhood Settings and Go Green Rating Scale for Early Childhood Settings Handbook, published by Redleaf Press, define the complete picture of green for early childhood, from cleaning to pest management; art supplies to plastics; lead to fertilizers; and air quality to your facility’s carbon footprint. Piloted in early care settings in 28 states and tested to establish statistically accurate reliability and validity, each of the Go Green Rating Scale’s 64 guidelines has a measurable goal so child care providers may self-evaluate their own program and create a green action plan.

The child care provider plays the most important role in creating a healthy environment for children.
